Currency

The official currency is the Euro, although the U.S. Dollar is widely used on both sides of the island. Restaurants and hotels accept most credit cards. There are plenty of currency exchange outlets and ATMs.

Proof of citizenship

French or EU citizens require their national ID card or a valid passport. Citizens from other countries require a valid passport, along with a return or connecting flight ticket. No visa required for stays not exceeding three months.

St. Martin’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is located 8 km from Philipsburg. Regular flights from Europe, the U.S., the Caribbean and Canada (Toronto and Montreal).
